The Foundation was established in 1999 in order to provide for the dissemination of information about the community of Sanbornton New Hampshire as reflected in its documents. The intent is that its citizens will have a full and accurate context in which to judge issues as well as have informed opinion for maintaining the proper exercise of their liberties on government and social issues.

The Foundation will gather for the purpose of digitally transcribing both historical and contemporaneous data to include documents, books, maps, pictures, genealogies, prints, oral histories and any other available information deemed suitable. The Foundation will establish a Sanbornton Digital Historical Library. The Foundation Website will be the access point in which the content will be arranged in a manner suitable for the ease of finding information and the widest possible distribution.

We fully recognize that such a concept can only be implemented with the cooperation and commitment of Sanbornton citizens, like-minded organizations and funding. The Foundation looks to have a supportive function for other Town entities, both public and private, and in particular to provide complementary and adjunct services with and to the Sanbornton Town Library. The public users of the Foundation's digital resources are expected to be individual scholars for research and publication, educational institutions at all levels, and most importantly, the students of the Town's elementary school and the area's secondary schools. Additionally, historical associations, the Town of Sanbornton, local area government officials, agencies, boards and committees, as well as those whom have ancestors who lived in Sanbornton, are anticipated users and supporting members.
